Welcome to PicBox. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your personal photos, albums, and interactions are handled securely. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and related APIs.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you provide to us directly and information generated automatically during app usage:
Account Registration & Auth Details: Your name, email address, and mobile phone number (used for One-Time Password verification).
Media & Metadata: Photos, videos, file sizes, dimensions, captions, and comments that you select and upload to our servers.
Technical Information: IP address, device identifier, device operating system version, and system notification tokens.
2. Permissions and Access Declarations
To provide a collaborative media sharing experience, the application requests the following runtime device permissions:
Photo Library & Camera: Required to select, edit, upload, and save photos and videos.
Contacts (Address Book): Required to find friends, display invitation options, and add contacts to shared albums. Contact list processing is done locally on your device; we do not store, copy, or keep your contacts database on our servers.
Push Notifications: Required to alert you to new uploads, shared album invites, and comments.
3. How We Process and Share Data
We do not sell your personal data. We process and share your information only as described below:
Album Collaborators: Users you invite to an album can view the photos, comments, and members associated with that album.
Service Providers: We share necessary credentials/data with Firebase (for push notifications and core logging) and SMS Gateways (to deliver OTP codes). These services process data under their own strict privacy terms.
Legal Compliance: We may disclose data if required to do so by applicable laws, court orders, or regulations.
4. Data Retention, Storage, and Quotas
All uploads are securely hosted. Each account has a designated storage allocation (e.g., 10 GB limit). We retain your media files and account data as long as your account remains active.
Storage & Physical Location:
Photos are stored in restricted access servers. Media files are deleted completely from physical drives when requested by the user.
5. Account & Data Deletion (Your Rights)
We support your full control over your data. In compliance with global distribution requirements:
Media & Content Deletion: You can delete any picture you upload. Deleting a picture triggers a transaction that permanently deletes database records, comments, likes, and physically deletes the media files from our storage locations.
Account Deletion: You have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and all associated personal data. To initiate account deletion, go to Settings > Edit Profile > Delete Account in the app, or email us at delete@picbox.in. Upon request, we will purge all your data within 30 days.
6. Children's Privacy
The application is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal details, we will delete it from our servers immediately.
7. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and sending an in-app alert.
